User roles
What each role is allowed to do, such as building in Studio or seeing costs, and how to add a new role like Supervisor.
What's in this video
- A role decides what a person can do and see. To manage roles, open the Governance workspace, and click User roles.
- Here are your company's roles. Each one shows what it can do. Governance lets them change company settings like this. Cost lets them see cost figures. A job queue gives them their own list of jobs to pick up. And Studio lets them build and change pages.
- The Owner has everything. Our engineers only have a job queue: they can sign in and use the system, but they can't change settings, see costs, or build pages.
- Let's add a role for a site supervisor, who should see costs and have a job queue, but not change settings or build pages. Type the name, tick Can view Cost figures and Has a job queue, and click Add role.
- The new role appears in the list. Click Edit to change what it can do, and the change applies straight away, for everyone with that role.
- If you delete a role, the people who had it aren't removed. They show as Unassigned, and can still use your published systems, until you give them a new role. In the next video, we'll add a team member, and give them a role.
