Studio: the Outline
See every block on a page in one list: select them, select several, and change which sits in front.
What's in this video
- On the left of Studio there are three tabs: Blocks, Outline and Pages. This video is about Outline.
- Click Outline. It lists every block on the page you're working on, with its type and the name you gave it.
- It's the quickest way to find a block, even a small one, or one sitting behind another. Click a block in the list to select it. It's highlighted on the page, and its settings open in the Inspector on the right.
- To select more than one, hold Control, or Command on a Mac, and click another. Now you can move them together, or delete them together.
- Click one block on its own again to go back to a single selection.
- The order of the list matters when blocks overlap on the page. A block lower in the list sits in front of the blocks above it.
- To change the order, use the up and down arrows next to a block. Let's move Welcome note down one place.
- You can also drag a block in the list and drop it on another.
- In the Inspector, the Layer buttons do the same in one click. Bring to front puts the block at the bottom of this list, so it sits in front of everything. Send to back puts it at the top.
- When you're done, go back to Blocks to add something new, or to Pages to work on another page. Studio remembers which tab you were on, even after you refresh the page.
